Our Education programme provides enriching learning opportunities for students and teachers from Primary Schools through to Higher Education. Our doors are open for all to create, learn and experience theatre at the Lyric.

The Lyric are committed to subsidising opportunities for students and teachers from state schools within the 10 boroughs of West London: Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington & Chelsea, Richmond, Wandsworth and Westminster.

We are committed to ensuring the Lyric is open and accessible for all young people. Our building is fully accessible and our relaxed/chilled performances can accommodate everyone’s needs. For more information, please click here or contact learning@lyric.co.uk

Schools Tickets

The Lyric offers a discounted schools rate for all Main House shows, which is available to all schools, colleges and universities.

We offer tickets at £15 per student with one free teacher ticket for every ten students and two free teacher tickets for SEND schools. This offer is available for all performances Monday – Wednesday during the main run of the show (subject to availability).

State primary schools in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham can book FREE tickets to select performances of our annual Panto for Years 5 & 6 only.

Our Education programme and one-off school ticket offers are announced via our Secondary Schools Newsletter to our West London teacher’s network.

The Lyric STARs (Secondary Teacher Advisory and Research) Group is a collective made up of secondary Drama teachers and education experts who meet regularly to support and shape the education work we create for schools and Higher Education Institutions. If you would like to find out more or are interested in joining, please contact natalie.jim@lyric.co.uk

We offer wrap around workshops based on specific Main House shows to enhance your students’ knowledge and understanding of a production.

These workshops can be delivered by our resident Assistant Director, a member of the creative team or a specialist practitioner at the Lyric or in your school. These workshops will be listed in our opportunities page and advertised via our Secondary Schools Newsletter.

The Lyric is open to working in partnership with London based Higher Education institutions. An example includes a bespoke enrichment day workshop for Roehampton University’s PGCE Secondary English and Drama students.

The First Class programme aims to support teachers starting their drama teaching careers, for their first 5 years, through bespoke teacher CPD, theatre tickets and networking opportunities.

We understand that recruitment and retention of teachers is a challenge for schools across London and Nationally. Our aim is to assist the development of talent within our local school communities. First Class is inspired by the ground breaking Education Program at Belvoir St Theatre in Sydney, Australia.

The Lyric are committed to offering hands-on work placements for students across all departments at the Lyric. We are only able to offer these on an ad hoc basis subject to capacity. Please email learning@lyric.co.uk to express your interest in a work placement.

Over 18
We prioritise candidates who live or study in the 10 boroughs of West London, however, we will consider applications from further afield if the candidate is studying a relevant course/subject. You do not need to contact us via your course tutor as we accept independent candidates.

Under 18
We are currently reviewing our work experience programme for students in year 10 and above. Any programmes on offer will be advertised on our opportunities page.
